Nail Art: Vintage Rose

yes I added the sparkles to emphasize the glitters
My older sister had to stay home since she was sick. She was okay by afternoon, though. lol lazy

She decided to paint my nails to match my mori bag. Nail art is her hobby and one day she wants to establish a salon. Yeah middle finger sent to her degree and license as an architect As her younger sister, I have no choice but to lend her my fingernails. Everyone seems to enjoy using my fingernails, since I have the good square-ish kind, but really ugly fingers wth

This nail art is peculiar. I find it weird up close, consisting of spots and swirls, but if viewed from afar, the dots and swirls forms an image.

nice huh?

the middle finger and the thumb has a lavender background with the rest having a powder blue.

If you're good at nail art like my sister here's how she did it. I don't bother since my hands are really unsteady. I can make this for others but not for myself. If not, then ask my sister hire a pro.

Materials:

  • 6 shades of nail polish. 5 from Etude house, 1 from Bobbie (Green). green is most important and is a staple
  • base coat
  • top coat
  • small brush. My sis used an old eyeliner brush.
I didn't bother taking pictures while my nails were in progress, since it'll be harder to decipher. So I made a schematic diagram for the instructions. I made it as simple as I could.

hope this makes sense ^^

Sorry but these is the best resolution I could give X( taken by her htc camera

If you have any questions Just leave a comment below. :) I'll try to answer best as I could :D Enjoy <3

The Hunger Games

I spent three days of my vacation reading the hunger games.

I haven't watch the movie, but I did heard of it. My older sister told me that it is lovely, though she has no idea about the book. She seemed surprise to see that we own the book. wth
The movie and book is wonderful. I'm usually harsh with movies, but I did find it good. The actors did their part well.

I didn't want to read it at first since the plot resembles Battle Royale too much. I wanted to read something new after all. However, I like to think now that Battle Royale is more of a pioneer that established its own line of plot: a group of young people forced to kill each other and to become victor. While reading the story, I realized it's not just Battle Royale, it also reminded me of the Twelve kingdoms. A girl who didn't really fit in, forced to turn into a killing machine

Still, it's marvelous, and worth the read. I didn't care that it reminded me of anything, cause most stories are the same anyways. I couldn't help but compare this book to Twilight. Yes I happen to find the book really dull and boring, and all I was waiting for is to get disappointed. But not the Hunger Games. Comparing Katniss with Bella, both are quiet girls, however Katniss has a calm and brooding personality like a shounen manga hero, while Bella is like, quiet cause.. she has nothing good to say anyway =_=

The movie is good, but I can't judge it properly since I know the story before I watched it. Just that, I feel disappointed with their choice for Gale. Now, I'm not saying the actor was bad, in fact he's great! He gave off a lot of feelings without the need to speak.  He showed lots of emotions and pain, and it's glaringly obvious that he was clearly in love with Katniss without the need to do any speaking.

i like this dude the most

The thing is, Gale Hawthorne was described as really handsome, "born with a camera-ready" face. The guy above is handsome, but I don't know, his face just doesn't appeal to me. I though Gale would be that guy that really appeals to all race and not just in the western world.

Maybe I was expecting something like this:

gets chosen as tribute. Other tributes commit suicide
lol, I read the hunger games during the viral peak of ridiculously photogenic guy. Seriously he deserves the role for Gale =))

Surgical Mission

I went to a surgical mission yesterday to help out with circumcision.

It's fun to help out, and I like going to these things. I'm not a hardcore medical student that spouts nothing but health, service and kindness. I don't know why but I find these kind of people to be... fake? It's the same with religion and the religious people. Perhaps they genuinely are passionate with the medical world while I'm the laid back type.

I don't want to put pictures of the exact scene here since it's not a pretty scene ^^ Surgeries are like that. They look exciting on tv, but in reality it's a bloody mess, and can get quite disturbing.

I remember on my first Surgical Mission as a med student,  some of my friends couldn't really handle the blood and all that's happening. I find them more fascinating than the surgery itself. Surgery is really ugly, and I find it amusing when others couldn't really stomach that.

I do hope it's not the last surgical mission for this year.

Lazy Sunday

I love Sundays

Ever since college, Sundays were the only times I actually get a day off.

When I was a child, I always liked waking up early every Sunday just  so I could see the "morning dew" Unfortunately I live in a tropical country. No morning dews here

I guess the excitement dies down when you're older

Most people think of bacon coffee or morning sex during mornings, more so on Sundays probably. I can't blame them ヽ(´ー`)┌ Cause the best things should go with the best times

I feel the laziest in the morning when the sun shimmers and colours the world with a pastel hue.

I hope you enjoy your lazy Sunday too!

waiting for love

I've always been waited for love to come. As my peers have taught me, a lady should never look for love, rather she waits for it. Originally I found this absurd when I was a teenager. If I don't look for love then how would it find me?

I've looked all over for love during my college years, all of it futile. What I thought was love from the side of a guy was simply his kindness and thoughtfulness within his soul.  Rather silly of me, and soon, I break my own heart from the misconception that my brain has been feeding me.

When I turned graduated college, I stopped looking for love. I've never had any boyfriend, nor have been to any dates, but I didn't care anymore. Love will come when it feels like coming.

And it did. I realized, the best way to find love is not to run and look for it, but giving yourself a steady pace. Love yourself first and be happy being single. As an old classmate of mine from high school taught me, If you're desperate for it, Love will simply get away from you. Wait for it, Love will come.

SUGAR SCRUB: Chocolate Adventure

There is this store that has been blooming across the Philippine market, and they sell Dead Sea Salt scrubs and other cosmetics made from the same salt. Now, I don't doubt the power of the Dead Sea, who am I to question that? They have scientific basis after all. What I don't like is how steep the prices of these products, and how aggressive their salespeople are. They hire idk, Iranian people to sell their stuff which probably adds to the selling factor. Ooh people from Middle East sells them! Must be the real deal. Bahh!

I don't care if it's the real deal or not. I am NOT buying some damn salt when I can buy a gadget for the same amount.

Did I say, they have really aggressive salesmen? Scary! The guy asked me what scrub do I use, and I told him, "Sugar" and he gives me this wtf face. ಠ_ಠ I know you must be giving me the same look.

But hear me out. Last year I became obsessed with my skin. I'm at the prime of my youth and I know I need to take care of it to enjoy myself. So after many research, trial and errors, and testing on my friends, I found the perfect recipe for that scrub.

For the nerdy facts(from so many references that I've already forgotten where is from which):
Chocolate: Chocolate and face? wtf with you woman?! You want me to get acne???? lol okay, I know a lot of people tends to break out whenever they eat chocolate, hence the myth. Actually, what causes the reaction is the milk in milk chocolate. I've never gotten acne over chocolate, maybe cause what I like is the dark ones. Chocolate is also a known anti-oxidant. Anti-oxidants comes from the word oxide (meaning oxygen compounds). No, too much oxygen is really bad for you. In fact it kills. These oxides are toxins, and causes premature aging, and cell death. Chocolate helps our body fight those off. It also has properties that softens skin.

Sugar: a natural preservative and a great buffing agent. Since it is a natural organic product, this is the perfect scrub for any skin type. I find this the best too as it is gentler than salt.

Chocolatey Skin Food ♥‿♥

I call this Chocolate Adventure. Simply Because!
Recipe:
1 tbs Cocoa Powder

5 tbs Sugar
1 tbs (more or less) water

You can use organic or white sugar. Doesn't matter.  ✿◕ ‿ ◕✿

In a container, mix the cocoa powder and sugar. Add water, and mix, until you reach a pasty consistency. Place on airtight container.

See? Easy  (〃^∇^)ノ you can add anything with this scrub, like honey, yogurt or olive oil.

How to use:

While on the shower, rub about a teaspoonful of the scrub on a freshly cleansed skin. Massage GENTLY for a minute or so, and leave it for 3 minutes or more. I tell you, after usage, your skin will be soft as a baby's bottom. It's that awesome!

Your skin may appear red after use. But that would easily fade away. It's perfect for sensitive skin (did I mention I studied my friends for this?)

Enjoy and tell me your results!

Rose tinted bags

roses. roses everywhere.

I know, over the top with the roses. I've been in love with the "chic"designs. ^^

yesterday, mom brought me to go shopping with her at Greenhills. I haven't told her, but the first time I went to Greenhills was with my boyfriend. ^^ well sadly it's an implied rule at my house that I can't have a boyfriend, cause I'm still studying. WTF parents, you want me to be an old maid? I'm turning 24 this year!

Greenhills only appear fabulous but, I don't think buying there is really a smart idea. Seriously php 6000 for a damn imitation? wth. I just want an imitation bag for my dogs. Sure they have lotsa bazaars and stuff but the prices are pretty steep. The gadgets however, that I would recommend. They're really cheap in my opinion. but all the rest, bahh. OVER RATED
