Review: Lioele Pop Cherry Tint

I feel so lazy lately, after  prelims came by.. >< And now for a review!

The Lioele Pop Cherry Tint

bought at Fairykiss (http://www.facebook.com/fairykiss.tale.online)

Before this, I was never a fan of tints. For some reason, even the most pigmented tints just doesn't work on me. They seem to blend out on my skin and look pretty invisbile. Before I bought my Lioele POP cherry Tint I couldn't be bothered by tints!

well, that all changed cause of this product ❤ Yay!

Tints are these colored ink-like stuff that women use to give color to their cheeks and lips, something like a rouge. It's a blusher and a lipstick all in one. To use them you put a drop on the center of your lower lip and smooth them out evenly, or put it three dots on your cheek and spread them out on your cheekbone for a nice blush.

The Lioele Pop Cherry Tint comes in a cute cylindrical bottle with a nail polish brush. It really do look like a semi transparent tinted nail polish in my opinion.

The stuff smells like roses!
I guess that isn't much of a surprise since the product claims to be made of rose water. Just opening the bottle and you'd get a whiff of roses, so if you're not fond of that scent, I guess it's best to give you that warning.

The product isn't as pigmented as I wanted it to be. But the product is buildable so I believe it is a good start for the newbies. As for the swatch, here's a photo of my lippies. No I don't smoke.

left (my right): with the tint

This isn't how I would normally wear it. I usually just put a dot spread it a bit, and smack my lips together. It looks so natural too!

As for staying power, living in a polluted and humid area, this doesn't stay on too much. I also spend most of my day in an airconditioned classroom. What I like though, even though it doesn't stay that long, some stuff remains leaving my lips with a nice pinkish look. It's not as red as it would be in the morning but I like how it looks in the afternoon. If I'm in my parent's house (where it's cleaner) the product usually stays much longer. If it's on my cheek however, it lasts the whole day given I don't run around too much

Pros:
  • nice tint color
  • stays long on the cheeks
  • buildable
  • smells like roses
  • application brush
  • handy
  • looks natural
Cons
  • Doesn't stay on too long
  • Strong rose scent (may not be to your liking)
  • color isn't very strong
  • gets washed away easily

Verdict:
Since this is my first tint, and it converted me from a hater to a lover, I guess you could say that I REALLY LOVE IT!!!! I have tried a lot of local tints and some really good ones for that matter but I never liked any of them. Lioele cheek tint look very natural compared with tony moly (yep I tried their cherry tint too, thanks to Lioele), but I find that too pigmented and drag queenish. But if you're looking for a subtle tint that you could play with, Lioele is your brand! It looks natural and pretty if you're using this for a gradient look. though it isn't prefect I still prefer this over my Tony Tint

Choosing between East and West Cosmetics

This is basically a review of Asian cosmetics in general:

Whenever I read beauty magazines here in the Philippines, it would always feature these beautiful women featuring makeup from brands well known all over the world such as Loreal, Maybelline, Revlon, Cover Girl and the likes.

I wasn't always the type of girl who goes around wearing makeup. In fact, I used to hate wearing makeup. It is true that I love putting them on and I have fun playing with them, but after wearing makeup for a few hours, I would have a break out. Yikes! ><

I didn't have a lot of self esteem to begin with, Getting a few pimples would break what little confidence I had. Still, i wanted to wear makeup to look pretty.

When the time came where I could afford these fancy named makeup, i got my hands on them only to be disappointed. they don't sit well with me. even the so called "hypoallergenic" ones would break me out.

Local lines weren't all that awesome too. Nice to buy them for practice, but not for actual use.

So, When the Asian lines came out, I turned a blind eye on them but yeah, with all their pretty packaging you can't help but resist them right?
too cute to ignore

Eventually, I started trying them out. I even fell for the BB cream hype (and I still abide by it)  but the first line that I got was Elianto which didn't sit well with me. The next one that I tried were from Etude house, and they too didn't sit well for me. I get break outs and stuff ><

Well idk what up with Etude House Philippines but everything else was much better when I tried out all the other Korean brands. Tony Moly, Lioele, Skinfood, These are the ones that I've tried so far and I do love them! i switch in between brands, and for the lip tint, I use them in combination.

What is with the hype of these products? A lot would say it's cause of the KPOP and KDramas but personally I think it's cause they're good stuff. Like everything else that's good, if it's good it will stand out no matter what in the market. If not, then it will not clique

Are these just for Asians?
Although these were made with Asian skin in mind, I do think that the Asian lines are great for everyone. Kanebo and Shiseido made it into the western market for a reason.Although not as fancy, one could compare these to drug store brands, but better quality Korean cosmetics are gentler for the skin compared with makeups from the west.

Maybe that's why I find western women to look older than they actually are compared to Eastern women. it is partly genetics, but I do think it's the makeup that could exacerbate the situation.

How to store beauty products in sachets

Each skin is different. What could work for me may not work for you and vice versa. I've learnt  this the hard way by buying makeup on what reviews online says is good, wonderful etc, only to find out that it doesn't work for me. I would end up giving those products to my sister or my cousins. It's financially draining.

I can't use western products on my skin since those are the ones notorious for giving me horrible zits and acne. :( So, I'm pretty glad a lot of korean BB creams have their own testers conveniently sealed for us middle class people who can't afford to throw away their money. And they're very generous about it too. Those sachet contains like 1-5 ml of goodness! And as Korean makeups goes, usually a drop or two is enough. Some people would say Korean makeups are expensive, but if you think about it logically, it's not. They're very cheap.

But I do find these disgusting. These sachets aren't shampoos which you could just leave on the bathroom since you wash shampoos off. These is makeup we're talking about, you know, putting something on your face that has been left open is just ew. what if some sort of insect has gotten into it? o.O

I tried closing them, with a tape or paperclip, even tried the fridge, but no. it's very inconvenient, and no way would I bring these with me on a bag since it just spells disaster. I can't throw them away though, since one sachet could last for a week or two depending on how big your sachet is. Quite a waste. I want to use them for that long so i could tell if I should buy the regular size or not.

Our tools:

1. contact lens cases. they came free with contact lenses I bought from the internet. They look cute, and can be bought anywhere from 7-11's to high end department stores. You can get the one with a case like my hello kitty (it used to have a case, but it's gross and broken now) or the one that comes in cute compacts. I would recommend the ones with compacts, since most of them comes with a tweezer and a spatula with a silicon bulb ends

I plan to give the hello kitty one to a friend of mine, who was asking me for a sampler of  Lioele Pore Solution balm. since my sister bought that, she gave me a generous amount. A week later, I found out our supplier had a sampler pack of it =_=

why I use contact lens? i have a lot of them lying around the house, since they come free with contact lens solution or contact lens themselves. very convenient. They're tough and leak proof so I love them <3

Why I don't use store bought travelling jars/pillboxes: they break easily, I tend to misplace them AND THEY LEAK!!!!!!! X( They're very expensive too :( They usually cost as much as a contact case lens that comes in a compact travelling case.  I'm still dependent on my parents you know. I don't want to be a burden.

2.1 Sachets: Like I said, Korean brands have them made. Very smart of them in my opinion. Western products doesn't have those, only store samples. If you like them there, then buy it. Never mind if it will give you a break out the next day.
or...
2.2 Your Regular-sized Product: Girls are social creatures. we love sharing what we think is great <3 or you can do this for yourself. Since I go home every weekend, it's very inconvenient for me to bring my BB creams back and forth. I refrain from doing this since travelling them tends to scratch their lovely surfaces >< oh shush you I love looking at their clean scratch free surface

Procedure

First we clean our cases, and this is for obvious reason. Some people would recommend using alcohol but, plain soap and water is okay.

drying the contact lens case
air dry or dry the case with a tissue. we don't want tap water in our product

For demo purposes, I'll be using Skinfood's Good Afternoon Peach Green Tea BB Cream
Skinfood Good Afternoon Peach Green Tea smells so wonderful <3
I don't want to waste sachets. Wasting stuff is bad, first-world people! if you're using the sachet, cut it at the corner so it comes out in small amounts

And now time to pour it in!

le pouring <3
This amount is enough to last me a for days.
I know some of you are thinking ew, how unhygienic, since you have to dip your fingers on that. read on okay?
Replace the cap, put it back in your compact and there you go!
See why I recommend the contact lens case? it has it's own mirror, so you can use it anywhere you want. And most of these cases comes with that spatula thingie. IDK what you call it sorry ^^

Nifty ideas huh? :) Hope you like them :)

BB Cream Adventure in the Tropics

No, this isn't about the history of BB creams. ^^ I'm sure you know them too, the all-in-one multi purpose creams of magical proportions.

I have been taking interest in them since Elianto came to the country. It's fun to reminisce! I believe I started using BB cream when I first started med school, roughly three years ago.

Elianto was the first brand to come in the Philippines which carried the BB cream line. I was under the impression that Elianto was Korean, but no, it was in fact Malaysian. I have nothing against that, but it did gave me a sense of false advertisement. Their products are made in Korea though, and that is what they usually say, but they never said Elianto was established in Korea. Quite deceiving huh? ^^ It was very timely too because it was the days when KPop was in, and everyone was into the Korean hype.

I do not know about the demise of Elianto here in the Philippines. It was like a shooting star of the market. Adored, loved, brilliant but faded as soon as it came. I haven't seen one now.

When I started med school, my allowance was raised a couple of hundred PHP, to match the standard of living as well as allowance for travel. It was expensive since I travelled across seven cities by bus and train everyday from monday to saturday with a test due the next. But eventually I was able to afford the Elianto Miracle Multiplex BB Cream

Yup it's three years old

It was really expensive. :( almost PHP 1k during that time, but I put my heart into this that this would be like a magical solution for me.

well it wasn't.

Since I traveled for leagues and scores, I could tell this product was just not for me. As a general rule, I wear makeup before I travel. I know it's not good but doing my makeup in school bothered me, so I just do it at home. Besides, it did promise that the BB cream lasts long. But by the time I get into school, all my makeup has melted and my uniform (which was white and had a turtle neck) catching all of the product.

Also all the travelling made me lose sleep, hence I developed the really terrible acne. This product exacerbated my acne, instead of healing them like it promised. Every week I would develop a really angry zit, that it ruined my face. It would heal up in two weeks only to be replaced by another. So so depressing. It was very runny and greasy for my skin, and made my skin oily instead of glowing and dewy.

I ended up giving this to my sister. Obviously she wasn't fond of this either. It was left there in our makeup shelf, forgotten. She didn't understood why I like BB creams. Well, the promise it offers theoretically had me hoping. but yeah, only hoping.

I stayed clear of makeup as time went by, but as I love dressing up, I still need foundation and stuff. I stayed with mineral powder. They gave me huge zits every now and then too. I envied my sister who could use Maybelline and not break out, as well as ELF, Loreal and others. It seemed that I kept on buying and buying only to give the things I buy to my sister. Makeup would waste a lot of my hard earned savings.

It was really sad. I can't wear make up, cause if I do, I would break out. Not because I was allergic, more like cause my skin hates those products.

On my second year, my sister started using Myra VITA GLOW. I know a lot wouldn't consider this as a BB cream, but for me, it was. basically what BB cream claims, this product can also do. Plus it had the same consistency as any other runny BB cream. Looks like BB, feels like BB, works like BB, but under a different name.

At first my skin liked it but as time passed on, my skin started to break out from it. Maybe it was the mineral foundation I used to matte it or maybe it's the product itself. I really have no idea.

My cousin then bought her Maybelline BB cream. I knew I react badly to Maybelline, but I did try, I asked her for a sample, and she was generous enough. I didn't like it, it gave me a grey cast, but my sister liked it and bought one for herself. I think that was her first BB cream, lol. It was pretty cheap too. But nah. It's tempting but why bother when I can't even use that. It's depressing.

Around that time that I started wondering if there is a makeup for me. Something I could wear without ruining my skin.

Around March, a friend of mine from another med school started to remind me bout BB cream.

This time, I decided to try the korean ones. I had been saving my money to afford Etude House's BB creams but I found out that Skinfood's BB cream are cheaper (in the phil market, it's the most expensive line along with Laneige) .

sold here

I got the Skinfood Good Afternoon Peach Green Tea in Shade #2 (natural) since it was good in my color. I bought it with my salary working as a freelance writer. It didn't made me break out, although I did get a zit here and there, it would dry up in a few days.

The zits are from Etude's Green Tea facial wash. =_= I don't understand the rave bout Etude House here in the Philippines. their products dry out quickly, and basically, UH!! whatever

I like Skinfood, although it does tend to look oily on me.  I have combination skin, it's just the hot weather.

When June came along my sister got us some Lioele products

I got the last stock for myself. I'm so sorry ><

I got the Triple the Solution BB cream. If I put on too much it makes me look pale. But if I get the right amount, it's perfect :) I don't really buy the all in one stuff of BB creams before, but this one did the job! I've been using this for a couple of weeks now, and wow, it has finally lighten up my pimple scars, and dried out the scars I got from the Etude facial wash. my skin isn't perfect yet but my facial color has started to even out that I wonder if I still have the BB cream on my face.

Lioele is my now favourite brand. along with Skinfood. :) They are the ones that I've tried (but yeah mainly Lioele) now I understand the rave about Lioele in neighboring countries

Internet Selling

It's pretty hard, but it is fun all at the same time ^^ I'm pretty chill about the business but my sister seems to be really aggressive in getting more sales, while she asks me to figure things out >< Still they're manageable. I do think I would start to panic once my sister goes abroad. ><

I do hope we get more customers while she's still here =D

A small world with a Lioele Franchising owners

Yesterday my sister asked me to come with her to a small quaint store along the hi-way, called Lioele. I've heard of this brand before but I can't seem to remember where I first read it.

stuff I hoarded. My sister got most of it.

I was kind of wondering if they would allow retailers, since I wanted to make some extra profit specially with med school, I have to spend a lot of money for this semester. We're required to sponsor an Obstetrics and a Gynecology patient who will undergo surgery. Two patients whoa!! It's so unfair! :(

Apparently, my sister had the same idea. she wanted to earn some extra cash too. We went to the Lioele store with a business mind. After chatting with the tenant, we found out that the owner also lives in our village, just a couple of blocks away from us. What a small world! We had a good chat with her, since apparently her and me are the same age, and her husband was my sister's age. They have a two year old child who was conceived out of wedlock, but seeing them now, it's amazing! God has been good to them and I can see that those two would be prosperous. We inquired if she's willing to take retailers, and she's all for it. She told us that she started off as an online seller for mineral make up and next thing she knew her 5000 php has inflated and soon she was able to come up with a store. She told us a long time ago that she used to direct from suppliers, and soon she was hoarding stocks herself and soon, she was tapping on to korean companies as a supplier of her own. The couple told us secrets, about Korean cosmetic companies here in the Philippines as well, and why they're prices are steep and who owns what. Pretty much she encourages us to be the retailers for our city area, since there aren't much sellers here.

Since the store hasn't opened yet, she invited us over for the grand opening. She made a deal with us, that for a minimum of 5000 php of lioele products, single receipt, she will turn us into silver members. SILVER MEMBERS OF LIOELE!! I can waltz in her shop and have discounts on whatever I want. She has candy bags and other cosmetics and just... WOW. So generous that it seems to good to be true. She told us simply, she buys things in bulk, she's a supplier, if we buy in bulk prices we get a discount, and she still earns from us. The both of us benefits.

I did asked her if it's fake and she laughed. She's confident as she told us, her supplies came from  the company themselves, her stocks are fresh, and if they look different from the ones at the Philippine Market, it's simply because those companies uses old stocks o.O (will check if it's true). If you don't believe it's real then she won't waste her time explaining how it's real.

I hope her business prospers. I think it will even if we don't wish them well, with their generosity and kindness. I love being their business partners.

Overcoming the Odds

hard to see but I spotted my name at number 49
I've always been the faithful sort, and that topic would incite a lot of haters. lol, I'm very thankful to God for what have happened today. It's 1 am yet I cannot help but feel happy and awake despite what time it is.

Once again God has granted me yet another wish. I'm a very lucky creature in my opinion. lol. Whenever I see an atheist blabbing about how there is no God, I cannot help but smile a little, because God is clearly with me all the time, and that blurred up list on the right is just one example of the miracles God has shown me. Explaining these small miracles would be futile to an atheist, so rather than wasting both of our time, I simply refuse to blab about it. Faith is everyone's right, and if they do not believe that there is a God, then I would simply accept it as that. They're happy that way, so as a rule, no raining on their parade unless they rain on mine/

but whatever. Today I came home after my friends from college asked me over to the next  city to have coffee. It;s been a while since I last saw them, almost half a year. Everyone's still the same lol, except I gained weight and all of us has a boyfriend now, Sydney being the last to get one.

It's a lovely event. I almost missed it because the promo boards was today and I didn't want to leave. Still without a care, I took a ride to get to the next city just to be with them, telling myself that I need not worry and have a blind-like faith in God. By the time I got home, I took time washing my face, not even caring that much about the promo board since I know that the definite time that the results would be posted will be on Tuesday. Still I knew it would be shown today. It has always been like that. Promo boards now, on the late afternoon/sunset, they would show the results.

only 149 passed. And I am included.

There is a technique in praying.

Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.  >>Mark 11:24
It's the most difficult thing to follow, especially when everything around you seems so negative. It's very difficult to not worry about things. When you've put things to your mind, and what you believe will happen will surely happen. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has a carefree happy go lucky friend who always seem to get whatever that person wants. Because of that belief.

I'm thankful to God and to St. Jude Thaddeus. Praying to them is really wonderful. Sometimes I feel embarrassed to God, cause I keep on asking and he keeps on giving. Same with St Jude T. I've always asked him for a guy before to the point that it got frustrating, and I thought St. Jude doesn't handle love lives. But a two or three years later, here comes a man, although not perfect, tall, handsome, intelligent. good physique, nimble and quick to his toes, can dance and sing, good at instruments, cooking and sports plus religious and comes from a rich family. plus an extra yummy hot body!! God, all I asked from St. Jude was a good man, but whatever you want, then I just say, thanks for the gift! St. Jude seems to like multiplying blessings too. Either that or he got fed up with me, so he threw in the extra I'd stfu. but whatever. Good man that st. Jude is :D

But I know a lot of atheist would roll their eyes once you start spouting the Bible. I hate it most when some religious freak starts quoting the bible and saying end is near or whatever bullshit to save my soul. Whatever dude, if you believe you're going to hell so much, then you can go there. I prefer heaven thank you very much and I'm going there. I'll live my life making people happy. And you're going to hell for guilt tripping people just for the fact that their living. wth

For those who doesn't believe in God, I don't plan on converting you. Have you heard of that book called, "the Secret"? Well, it works the same way as that dude Mark said. Whatever you ask, believe that you have already received it. Believe that it's already on its way towards you.

My senior friends have kept on telling me about the secret. Whenever I tell them the two subjects I almost flunked, they would laugh and tell me to go and have a new uniform tailored. I should have just listened to them now I don't have any uniform to wear. If it weren't for them I'd probably be so pessimistic.

Sometimes you'd doubt but always assure yourself that it is already happening. It happened before you even ask for it, before you even wished for it. It will not come in a snap of a finger, it will come on its own, so always be specific!

Suddenly, you'd think it's just a coincidence, but it will happen over and over again.

This post was long overdue. In my mind, I've always been thanking God and St. Jude, and imagined what I'll write in thanks. Even now, I still stare at the fuzzy blurred image that is supposed to be my name. I can't believe it. I'm in third year now.

Without a phone, but grateful

today marks the sixth day since I've last had a cellphone. At this day and age when even a young child could own a phone, here I am living in the ways that my parents have lived. It's really annoying and frustrating to not have a cellphone. For one thing, I am afraid to leave the house and do something fun. I do not even want to meet up with my boyfriend in case something happens to me and i have no means to tell him.

What is it like, I wonder, to meet your friends without a phone in your pocket? I suppose I have to wait patiently, and go to the rendezvous place on time. If the person you're meeting gets late, or decides to be fashionably late, then you suffer the consequences. You have no choice but to stay and wait, or to just leave.

where in the name of all that's holy are those guys??
Having no cellphone is weird. I graduated high school without any phone, but back then I didn't really mind since my friends back then were mostly sheltered girls so they weren't allowed to go outside. The ones that weren't sheltered, I usually just make a phone call before meeting up with them. But now it's different. Friends are inviting me here and there but I could only decline. I don't have a phone, sorry, I'm not coming. It's a lame excuse, I know.

It's also weird since I can't talk with my boyfriend just as easily. I have grown accustomed to him, always contacting each other, sharing things you see or just plain flirting when you're bored by everything you see. A cellphone breaches all the distances you have, but now I have nothing to keep in touch with.

Recently he's been on the net lately, and it is particularly funny since he's not much of a net junkie, unlike me.ahhn  Still I cannot help but get touched with his actions and thoughtfulness. He's having a stressful week, as he have told me, yet he manages to go online just for me. No matter how late it is, he'd make sure we're in touch. A brief chat, a hi, hello, before he grumbles miserably for being so sleepy, ironically he'd stay for an hour or more. He's a terrible chat mate unless he has a gossip he wanted to share. Still being able to talk with him at random time is much better than having a void between us, wondering where or how the other is faring.

I suppose this is how long distance relationship feels like. It's very lonely. I hope I get a phone soon

Review: Olay Age defying Body Wash

 Olay Age defying Body Wash

FINALLY OLAY DECIDED TO FIRE THEIR SCENT MANAGER!

This one is the most fragrant of them all! It smells like a bouquet of fragrant flowers. Very fresh and refreshing compared to the scent of the other two

I suspected that this one isn't as good as the total effects, but I thought hey why not, so I got the age defying body wash, in a cute travel pack. This one above is relatively cheaper than the other two though. like around php90 or 100. I forgot.  I got the travel size for php25 and it lasted me a month!

like it's stinky predecessors, this product has a creamy texture. No need to get a handful since a small amount could cover the entire body. It's really addicting especially if you love fragrant baths. It doesn't leave any residue nor does it feels oily. It feels clean and refreshing.

For moisturizing I could say it's okay. Doesn't give your skin that extra moisture, but it doesn't leave your skin dry and neglected.

As for its anti aging properties... I think it's best if you leave this product on you for 3-5 minutes or so, before rinsing since it contains vitamin E. It also contains vit A. O.O

Vitamin A.... is very good for your skin. People doesn't know much about vitamin A, except maybe for good vision. I see in a lot of reviews with vitamin A that it simply nourishes the skin. I don't know what vit A does exactly but, I believe it shrinks your oil glands so that it doesn't secretes too much oil. Those oils feeds bacteria that causes odor and pimples. So if you have really bad odor problems, start using this product!!! If you want to get rid of pimples, dermatologists would overdose you with vitamin A.

I know there is a study that says it's okay to use stuff with vitamin A on skin, but just a precaution, too much vitamin A could cause abnormality to your baby, even abortion. Just to be safe, avoid this if you're pregnant.

I give this product a 4/5. It's really wonderful and perfect, the downside is, compared to the first one, it doesn't have those minerals, and deosn't do squat for the skin's moisture. sad. but hey, it's cheap, it's wonderful, it smells good, plus it has several anti aging properties. If you have normal or soft skin, this would be wonderful.

Review: Olay Creme Ribbons with Almond Oil

Olay Creme Ribbons with Almond Oil

Another buy one take one. around php250. Initially I bought this hoping that like the Total Effects, it has minerals, only it smells better. I know the scent of almond oil so I was really hopeful. And since it is pink maybe it smells floral or something safe.

but yeah, it smells as bad as the smell was for above, this one smells just as horrbile. REALLY REALLY HORRIBLE. In some review that I looked at, they think this smells good. I know it's mean but maybe they live in really horrible smelling places. idk, Must be some western thing that I cannot understand. It smells like the one above only less strong. like some kind of oil gone bad with some rotting wood or something. I think they were going for sandalwood, cause you know "spa" but yeah. they got the wrong oil probably. Sandalwood smells really wonderful, and I love buying the fans made out of them. Seriously Olay, what up with your funky scent taste?

I was only able to smell this product after I bought it, and I immediately regret buying this. For one thing I can't seem to get enough to lather myself so it was really wasteful. In my mind I just wanted to get rid of this. It didn't do well in the softening of my skin at all. The reason why it has ribbons is because the nozzle is flat so it kinda look like cream ribbons coming out. Now I could see why they were sold in pairs at a really cheap price. They are horrendous!

As for the minerals, I think it says yes at the back. but it wasn't as wonderful as the total effects.

As for its effects, same as above only lower. Between the two, you're better off buying the first

I'd give this product a 0.5/5 stars =_= waste of money, waste of time, doesn't do anything for the skin except it can clean! I wish I gave this product away instead of being patient with it and waiting to be disappointed. I would suggest if you bought this by accident, you ought to use it on your feet or as a shampoo for your dog that you don't like to snuggle. Honestly, I think my dog's natural musk smells cuter on her than this thing. But hey, if it's gentle enough for my skin, it's gentle enough for the dog.

Olay's pretty weird since their body wash line seems to smell better on guys than with women.

Review: OLAY Total Effects 7 in 1 Anti Aging Body Wash

I'm a fan of Olay. Though they come off expensive in the Philippine market. =_= sigh why is it cheaper in places like Hong Kong or Singapore? idk. It's so expensive that whenever I tell people I use Olay body wash they go "OMG YOU'RE SO RICH!!!! I CAN'T EVEN AFFORD THEIR CREAMS!" I get their total effects anti aging creams abroad since they're much cheaper abroad.

Philippines is a developing country, why do all these stores sell their stuff at steep prices? o.O Can't they do like a statistics. If only the rich and social climbers can afford their stuff, then their sales would go down. They should target the middle class. Or maybe it's their marketing strategy.

But one day as I stroll around the supermarket to buy my groceries, a saleslady offered me a promo from Olay. buy one take one of their new body wash. It was 300 pesos, and since I had extra cash on me why not

From then on I stopped using soap and converted into using Olay body wash. So here's a review for all three of them, go browse which one you plan to buy:

sorry I can't find a clearer image
This was a buy one take one when it first came into the market. Bought this on impulse cause I could afford it that time. I got the purple one since it's the most hydrating, and I have really dry skin. To be honest, I really love this body wash. It wasn't like most body wash where it runs all over the place once you start pouring to your loofah. It has the consistency of a cream with a flat outlet. It's also very easy to lather. I usually just use a pea size drop of this product and it would cover my whole body + more bubbles for me to play with.

The product claims to have "Skin Brightening Minerals", and true enough, upon use you'd notice gold like minerals deposited on your skin. They're huge enough not to clog your pores so don't worry bout getting boils or whatever.  The skin brightening minerals is what keeps me loyal to this product. It turns your ugly dull skin into shimmery radiant healthy skin.

the dude in charge for the scent
I find this product perfect in our tropical climate, since after use, the product seems to keeps your skin hydrated, as if you'd put lotion on. Lotion tends to melt and feel icky when the weather is hot, so a plus for this product

What I absolutely hate with this body wash is the smell! Oh dear God, something must be wrong with their noses when they made this product. It smells like milk with something dead inside, or coconut milk that's gone rancid. A musky creamy smell that should be fragrant but went wrong? Maybe coconut oil with some weird voodoo herbs used to relieve bad rheumatics? It just smells horrible. It just reminds me of that oil my grandmother used which she claims miraculous. I don't know what kind of words I should use to describe it, I just don't like the smell. I don't know if it's one of those weird western thing, but it really smells bad. I'm happy that the scent doesn't stay on my skin once you wash it off. That or maybe my nose got used to the smell. idk.

As for the hydrating effects, then I would say, no it didn't do much. I will admit that I think my skin got a bit hydrated but nothing special.  Emphasis on the I think. I really had dry skin when I used this product. It didn't get softer at all, but it got hydrated and less dry. And since I used this product for a quarter of year or more, then no. If you want baby butt soft skin then click here.

As For anti aging, I couldn't tell since I'm still young. No wrinkles yet. Maybe it is effective in that area

All in all I'd rate this one a 3 out of 5. Like I said, the reason why I love this product is because of the minerals. I'd even give it a 4.5 probably cause I really love those minerals. But the scent is really off-putting. Sad part is, all products smell the same! Ugh!! I wish they simply copied the cream's scent. =_=

Globe My Super PLAN Postpaid FAQs

I decided to make my own FAQs cause Globe's website is so hard to understand and they tend to be on the shady side. I'll try to add up to this eventually such that this would serve as a reference for me and other potential buyers. I'm not paid to do this, but I need to write things down so I could consider things. All my friends tell me I should just go with the plan since they're really good, or so they say. Well dears, that is because they don't pay for their plans, its their parents who does. at least most of them. A working friend of mine told me that it is good, given you're not

i wish globe decides to pay me for this. lol

Do I really get a free phone?
Yup, you do, but it does depend on the phone that you would choose. for example, I want to go for an iPhone, and the plan I choose is the 299, the phone wouldn't be free.

Do I really pay just php 299/399 etc?
No, you have to pay and additional php 99 =_= wtf

Can the add ons be subtracted from the consumables?
No. the thing is you have to pay the additional add ons. let's say i go for plan 299, then I want an add on, let's say all text to globe, which is 349. The total bill will be 299+349(+99).  =_= plan 299 is good for high schoolers who doesn't have any friends nor lovers, but needs to contact their parents every now and then. If you're one of those douchebag parents who doesn't allow their kids to get out of the house and make friends or socialize, then go for that. Otherwise, it's more useful to use the All-Unli promo. Much more useful.

Can a student open an account?
If you're like ultra rich and you have a passbook, with incoming money of 12k a month, then yes, you can. I guess it works if like your parents live abroad and you're living here in the Philippines, I guess it would work. Otherwise, stick to prepaid or go ask your parents. Globe seriously has the mindset of a bank, IMO. If they think you cannot pay them then they would likely to decline you.

WTF? What are their requirements? It's not on their tab!!!
lol, http://www.globe.com.ph/web/globe/support/postpaid-application-requirements?jsid=9BABBB8614351FF9E10FF5780CD1BC49.41337682873666
Their website's such a mess. =_= it took me a hard time to look for it too.

Do you think it's worth it?
imo, yup. Globe really has a good plan! at least the All-unli plan. I usually load like 600 pesos every month cause my family uses Smart, while all my classmates are all globe. I rarely call, so the best for me would be the plan 349. I only text my family if it's really important anyways. So if I do managed to call, it would just be  how many pesos anyways. I know I have a bf but he rarely takes calls. I only call him on emergencies and he would just text me a reply.  So all in all, I'm guessing my bill would surmount to around 400 more or less.

On arguments with the boyfriend

Although every one of our friends think we're the perfect lovey-dovey couple, the truth is, we're not. My boyfriend and I argue on the stupidest things.

Tumblr_lp3gi7tsla1qaqxcdo1_500_large

and if we start arguing, we won't stop. With the two of us, we can't back down once we know the other is wrong. and it's really annoying. If the argument gets too late in the night, my boyfriend would stop talking to me, and let the sun dawn on our problems. And the thing is, I do not want to go to bed upset with an argument unsettled. it's pretty hard to meet each other's end, especially if the two of you are complete opposites.

in the end i do realize, that the "time out" thing he does is his way of cooling his head. once a length of time passes, he starts getting friendly again. As for him, he understands why I want to get things over with. Eventually we seem to be rubbing off of each other. Recently he learned to be  frank and become direct in an argument, if I', upset with him etc, but he'd make sure it ends as soon as possible. Meanwhile I started to learn to just leave things alone. If he's being a prat to me, or if he's arguing incessantly, I pause, distract myself, before answering him back.

There are also things that I have learnt from arguing with your beloved. That is, to never make your partner cry. There was a time when I got so upset with my boyfriend, that I wanted him to beg for my forgiveness.  He did but it never satisfied me. For two or three days, he was saying sorry, and I was piling all the guilt up until he got fed up. He marched to my school and we had a talk. He gave me a home made cupcake as a gift.

Once your darling cries, then stop and learn to forgive.

I realized I almost lost him, and I'm glad I realized my mistake before it was too late

I do wonder, how other couples settle their arguments, and what their arguments are like. Remember, the time after an argument is the sweetest time of all. I don't encourage arguments, but make sure your darling gets showered with your love.

Interschool Med Friends

Inter school friends. I'm the one with the short brown hair ^^,
Left to right: from PLM, UST, OLFU and FEU
Kinda cute huh? this photo was sent to me by a friend from another school :) I couldn't help but feel grateful for the picture and it really does inject a positive vibe to your soul

Most med students pretty much keep to themselves. Go to school, eat outside, go home, study and sleep. It's hard to fit in any social events in our schedule since a day off is pretty much spent on either advance reading or catching sleep. One can say we're pretty boring people.

I'm the lazy kind. i spend my free time with my bf lol :))

pretty much our lives

I consider myself lucky that even though it was really against all odds, I've earned a clique of friends from other med schools.. not just random friends, but close tightly knit friends you'd look for when you're in a room full of people.

They're the people I would treasure even past graduation. Since we're all separated in the first place, I know that these people will never be a stranger to me, nor I to them.

My Sexy Revolution Starts Now

Almost everyone who've entered med school gained weight. This and that who had sexy abs, now has sexy flabs to boast.  If you're skinny, go to med school, you'll gain weight.

Y U No - Boobs Y U NO CATCH MY FATS?

I've often read in magazines, the secret on dieting is to "make your own meal" so as you have more control to what you are eating. Well, the thing is, I can't make my own meal. My dorm doesn't have a kitchen, so that's out. Working out on a gym is a out of the question since I'd rather hit my books and study for the next exam to catch up. I have org meetings to add to that. Still, if there's a will there's a way, right? I stopped drinking juices and sticked to water, it worked but only to stop me from gaining any more weight. I incorporated fruits to my daily intake, but I haven't monitored how that work. I tried the eat less but eat often trick, that didn't work. But that one inch that I have painfully got out will go down the drain once my boyfriend comes over or brings me out on a date. He'd make me eat, make me drink milk tea, and give me a little treat before we part: either chocolates or a box of cookies. I can't get mad at him since he's just being thoughtful to make me happy. He doesn't seem to have any idea of what dieting is since he can eat a whole pan of pizza and still remain skinny.

I have exercise too! my books weigh heavier than my chihuahua and my laptop combined (I own an HP, not a Mac Air, mind you) and I carry them to and from school! I also take long walks every week along with my bf.

Now, I know it's discouraging but not all of the diet regime that I've tried were useless. There is one that even my sweet boyfriend couldn't defeat, and perhaps it's one of the craziest dieting regime known in this world. I call this the kangkong diet.

how I see myself on the "kangkong"diet
It's not your conventional story of picking up a book about dieting, or having to take a good look at the mirror and say to yourself, gahd I need to diet. In my case, dieting was enforced. Here's how it goes.

The Pharmacology department required our class to make a research study with the theme on weight reduction. Our research head was on the weight reduction effects of ipomoea aquatica. we call it Kangkong here, I think it's water spinach in English. After the papers have been written, it was time to choose a subject. I was one of the chosen ones having a bmi of 26 and without any health problem. (ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻

I was really optimistic about it though, unlike my fellow subjects. What can go wrong? All we have to do is incorporate 500g steamed kangkong to our diet, and maintain our sedentary lifestyle, We're not allowed to climb more than three flights of stairs, and since we're already subjects, we need not help in writing the paper anymore.

On our first week, we went binge eating. We ate whenever we can, and ate whatever.. The idea seemed to stress a lot of my classmates. Besides, if we're going to follow the same diet for three weeks might as well make the most out of it, right?

Finally the day for the kangkong has arrived. We were given these heart shaped containers then got oriented to eat the steamed kangkong everyday for two weeks, which we can eat it all at once or divide the food to add to our meals. Everyone opened their containers and take a waft of the green pile of gunk inside. I had to pull back from the container fast. The smell was horrible! Like a damp closet with a hint of earth. I could see that everyone had the same reaction: this was not how we expected this diet to go. But we didn't have a choice. If we abandon this study our grades would go down the drain. All our hard studying would be all for nothing.

I could see some pinching their nose just to swallow. Some didn't even chew and just swallowed to end it fast. I took two spoonfuls and then I gagged, that I ran to the nearest trash bin. I had to spit the kangkong out or vomit everything. My body simply refused to take more of the thing. Since I had to report in the front I could see everyone's reaction. Some were coughing them out, some where starting to look sick, every subject was miserable. When I finished my report, I don't dare touch my container! It dawned to me, then, I have to do this diet for two weeks, not cause I want a sexier hotter body but cause this is a study and my grades relied on this. The group in charge for making the kangkong were all watching us, distressed. They wanted to help us but what can they do? The next group who were tasked to make the next batch of kangkong were all looking at me, since I was the only one left who hasn't finished and they had to take the container. I needed to take my time to chew the kangkong until I can swallow since I was afraid it might initiate another nausea.

That night most of the subjects had diarrhea. No seriously. And it's not like the kind of diarrhea that makes you  feel good afterwards. It's the kind where you don't want to get out of the toilet and just live there to make your life easier. Now I know what they mean by "Purge" I know, gross, wtf with this diet huh? It's not like we can just quit, you know.

On the second day they added shrimp paste to the kangkong. This delighted the other subjects but not me. I don't like shrimp paste.

The diarrhea went on, but it got better, more tolerable. In fact it feels better afterwards now, like all the toxins have been flushed out.. On the fourth day one of my fellow subjects had to stop. She was brought to the E.R. I don't know the exact reason but the point is, the stress from this diet was really bad for her.

I was unable to follow my original diet plan since the kangkong made me full. It didn't matter, our research head told me, so long as I am fateful to the Kangkong. The diarrhea continued for a week until my body started to adapt. The kangkong became better too, since my classmates became creative as the time passed. They added a siomai on top of the shrimp paste, and so on, or give out tuna as a side dish to make the steamed kangkong taste better

Classmates even forged a letter from my bf on the container. Hilarious but very effective. I finished this in one sitting, even though they just added caramelized onions and soy sauce. Wish I kept the container, even though I know it's a fraud.

Now I know what a lab rat feels like. lol

Did it work? for me, it did! And according to our study, it's very effective! I lost like 6 kg in two weeks, and that's already good enough for me since remember i started off with a BMI of 26, and it returned to 25! 25!!! basically I became healthier!

As for my waistline.... from 31 it returned to 29! although if I suck in my breath my waistline dropped to a 27! Close enough!!! I did enjoy the trim from the waistline unfortunately, only my waistline dropped. =| I never had these before but my skin suddenly became... loose. Idk, it looks weird like I'm wearing a shirt that is a size bigger but fits perfectly on other places. Just unflattering >< As it turns out, loosing weight is different from having a nicer sexier body. sigh....

One of my friends have told me about the Lipo Cavitation from Sexy Solutions. She's on the rich side, and her parents sponsored her for a Lipo Cavitation and wow. It's like Photoshop, only in real life. O.O She used to have flabby arms and a double chin, but now, she's all pretty, with that nice arms, We have the same waistline but she looks nicer with a sleeveless top compared with me! :( Now she's having the Lipo Cavitation for her tummy! I made a pact with my dorm mate when we heard about this. Once we graduate and get pretty rich we're going straight to Sexy Solutions! I like the Lipo Cavitation since it's not as invasive as a liposuction. Liposuction is a blind procedure, according to our lecturer at surgery. They insert a huge needle thingie connected to a suction through your belly button and suck away blindly. BLINDLY. Meaning although it's very slim, there is still that chance of getting your organs skewered. Lipo Cavitation simply melts those stubborn fats away, without the scary needle suction thingie. Between Liposuction and Lipo Cavitation, go for the Lipo Cavitation, it's safer I tell you! Less expensive too.

If you want to do our class's Kangkong Diet, here's a tip:

  1. divide the 500 grams of steamed kangkong into three, so it doesn't surprise your intestines from the sudden bulk. =)
  2. don't eat it as a salad, eat it with your meal or a sandwich. It tastes much better with meat
  3. Avoid shrimp paste or soy sauce. The additional salt isn't good for you. =_= like I said incorporate it to your meal :)
  4. do not boil the kangkong leaves. steam it for fifteen minutes. boiling the leaves will destroy its properties.
  5. if you're starting to get palpitations, headaches, chest pains or difficulty in breathing then stop the diet, and change it. The diet is not for you.
  6. Although I said it gave me diarrhea, it's not as bas as cholera or dysentery. It's more like you've taken a laxative, and it does get better. It just regulates your bowel movement.
Remember the Kangkong Diet is for weight reduction, not for a sexier, toner body.

Although the diet works (and I have a research study behind it) I don't really want to go back to that diet regime ever =( eating the kangkong was really difficult and painful for me even with all the thoughtfulness and creativity of my classmates to make it all bearable. Maybe the nutritionist at the Sexy Solution can teach me a diet plan that is perfect for a sedentary med student. You know, something more bearable but still healthy!

Oh and btw:

I know right!! vomitsrainbows.jpg THEY GOT 50% OFF!!!!!  No more sit ups and diarrheal laxative stuff!

On dieting

I've been trying to lose weight for quite some time now. Medicine has ts curse on us medium built people. Almost everyone gained weight. The only ones who retain their figure are the genetically skinny and those that are already big in the first place. It's very painful to go on a diet while studying medicine. For some reason you just get hungry  as soon as you finish a few pages.

My parents have also been telling me to lose some weight. I'm not yet obese but I do admit that I'm getting curvier, which I do not like at all. All my clothes are shrinking fast! Just the other day, my friend told me "tiff, you're gaining weight", as if implying "are you pregnant?" Geez, just cause I have a boyfriend and getting fat doesn't mean I'm pregnant. I'm just getting fat and it sucks!

Since I'll be changing uniforms now, I wanted to go on diet. This past week I've ate nothing but bread and fish and cheeze. I also eat a burger or a hotdog for my lunch or dinner, but no more rice for now. =(

Tumblrlw2nkhxngg1qfhlqwo18ab58_large
white substance that makes up heaven

i can't make anything healthier because we don't have a fridge nor a stove. All I can do is make a sandwich. Idk if it worked or not, but it takes time I guess. I promise myself, once we buy a fridge, I'll start making my own food. I'll live on pasta and bread!

It's probably asian culture, but a meal without rice is.... a snack. And sadly i have that mindset as well. A spaghetti or a huge lasagna is just something you eat during the afternoon along with pizza and chips. Sure there are snacks with rice on it but they're snacks, junkfood you can live without. Rice is the main difference between a meal and a snack.

BB cream and a Cold wax

Before I head home, I usually stop by a mall before changing rides. There are times when I couldn't help but buy some stuff along the way. I don't really go all out like the gurus at youtube. Im investing my money to buy a fridge and an oven, so I cant afford to buy small things

I wanted to buy some eyeliner since my KISS ME Heroine is gone now :( I'm thinking of getting the K-palette next time though. I hope I can find a Shuesh store soon. The eyliner can wait.

I also ordered a BB cream from Skinfood from an internet seller. I think she's officially my favourite!

Stuff I bought
1. Nanna Rose's Queen Bee Hot/Cold Wax @ Php 99.00

Kindly ignore my thigh at the bottom right ^^

I usually shave since waxing takes up a lot of time which I rarely have. It's either the salon or Epillin wax. I've been searching for a cold wax like the ones they use at Strip It. So when I saw this I had to grab!

Bough this from Watsonss

2. A couple of nail polishes

nuff said. Aquamarine and a rainbow glitter accent.

3. Good Afternoon Peach Green Tea #2 by Skinfood @ php 411.00 (plus php 89.00 for delivery)

obviously it's the one at the left most. The two sachet samples are freebies from the store I bought it from bhappywithme. I think she gives freebies if you bought php 300.00 plus. She's now one of my fave sellers, though it;s hard to speak to her since her English isn't very polished.

At Skinfood stores across the country, this BB cream cost around php 900.00 to php 1000.00!!! wtf no way am I spending that much for just make up!

A friend of mine seems to be really into BB creams as well, and made me try this one. I liked it so I decided to buy my own. The last BB cream I own was from Elianto, though it's not a "blemish balm" in my case. =_= it gave me zits instead, and the worst kind too. They kept on appearing until finally I gave up on Elianto entirely and gave the product to my sister. She's not fond of it either. What I love with the Good Afternoon BB cream is that it's already matte and dewy, unlike most BB creams that are oily and slimy.

since skin food claims to be more on the natural side, i do hope this product would be gentler to me.

I wonder about the freebies though. I don't want to use them yet.

well that's it. Like I said, I'm on the stingy side. I don't go ooooh I want to buy this that and this ><  I also bought some cheap eyeliner just so I can practice. i need to find a good pencil eyeliner that doesn't smudge at all! ><

On writing

Tumblr_m2wczssdnj1qkt9aoo1_400_large

I feel like my writing skills have deteriorated instead of improving =_= wth life(ノಥ益ಥ)ノ  ┻━┻

Perhaps the reason for this is that I have stopped writing recently. Once upon a time, writing was my solace. When I had been sad about life, or when I didn't know what to do, I wrap myself in my fantasies and write them down. I've kept notebooks filled with stories and tales of love, fantasy and adventure filled my room.

Now... well, I stopped writing. I'm happy I took that writing job, at least it brought me back, but now, I have to stop again.

Still I did start this blog to sharpen my writing skills, and hopefully I start a more mature style. Reading my old blogs hurts my eyes ^^ I wrote so excitedly and brash, sometimes I couldn't help it especially if I want my entry to be humorous, but if not, I hope it's not boring.

Kiss Me Heroine Make Liquid Eyeliner

I've always hated eye liners, especially the liquid ones. Whenever I use liquid eyeliners, at the end of the day, it would give me panda eyes. So unglamorous!! I've completely stopped believing in those "smudge proof" eyeliners. Even gel eyeliners wouldn't work for me cause of the humid weather of the country.

Last year, after my sister went back from Hong Kong, she told me about her experience with shopping at Hong Kong. She told me about the make up line, and about a peculiar product that seemed familiar to her called "heroine". I looked it up at the net and asked my mom to buy me one since the rest of the family left me for Hong Kong ಥ_ಥ
foreveralone.jpg

When I saw it on the net, I realized where I saw it: on Japanese make up tutorial magazines, and from Queenie Chan's videos.

I know wtf with the cover. Looks like a shoujo heroine from the 70s. It kinda raised my eyebrows at first but if it works then it works.

clearer image. pic from online retailer

I don't know the exact product description.
here is the slogan: 涙は人を美しく魅せるものです。
Rough translation: Even in Tears, you're still beautiful and attractive.
Intelligent translation: Be beautiful even if you weep.

seriously, whuuuut?? =)) talk about hilarious. =)))))))

seriously?

from another store over the net

With tiny and sharp eyeliner tip (0.1mm), Kiss Me Heroine Make Smooth Liquid Eyeliner allows you to draw fine and delicate eye lines.

Its waterproof contents are great to avoid flaking and smearing, creating a lasting makeup effect.

Verdict:

It's the best eyeliner I have ever had. Perhaps it's the brush, but it's very precise. See how fine it is:

Although many claims that it lasts the whole day, it doesn't for me. I still need to retouch every two hours or so, maybe cause of the weather, but I don't really mind. Also, a lot of reviews online says that it's hard to remove but I beg to differ. Kiss Me is water soluble and washes easily with soap and gentle rubbing.

Best of all, not once did it gave me those panda eyes that most western products give me. It doesn't melt. Hence their claim above, Doesn't melt, not runny, and it will keep you beautiful even if you bawled.
